Meet the team

Alan Smith,
Advocacy Officer
I provide an Advocacy Service for visually impaired Wirral residents, advising on the benefit system and guiding them through the claim process, including support with appeals and tribunals.

Ally Thompson,
Administration Assistant
I provide general administration & finance support and am responsible for transcribing information into Braille when this service is requested.

Clare Watson,
Ceramics Session Tutor
I teach pottery techniques using clay, which can be moulded, sculpted or thrown and finished with a variety of glazes. It is a wonderfully tactile medium that lends itself perfectly to people with a visual impairment.

Jo Tudor,
Volunteer Coordinator (part-time), and Art and Crafts Session Tutor
My role is to manage and support our volunteers and coordinate their involvement in our centre activities, fundraising and social events. I also tutor the Arts & Crafts groups, which enable visually impaired people to develop their creativity through the exploration of different mediums.

Neil Francis,
Low Vision Aids Officer
I support visually impaired people in the use of appropriate equipment. I give advice and assist in the demonstration and sales of low vision aids and provide home visit support if required.

Lynne Sedgwick,
CEO
I lead the development and fundraising strategy and promote our services in the wider community by networking with other agencies, stakeholders and businesses. I am also responsible for financial reporting and budgeting, the management of projects and staff.

Helen Pickavance,
Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO)
I am based in the Eye Department at Arrowe Park Hospital. My job is to act as hospital liaison between health professionals and patients by providing an emotional and practical support service for adults and children diagnosed with an eye condition, their families, friends and carers.
