Emotional Support
One-to-one counselling
Hello, I’m Joy Hawitt, and I work with WSBPS to provide confidential counselling therapy to those who need emotional support.
If you are struggling to come to terms with sight loss or changes in your vision, counselling can offer a safe and calm space to talk things through. I work with individuals to explore emotions around diagnosis, family impact, work life, and planning for the future.
I offer Person-Centred Therapy – a client-led, talking therapy that adapts to your individual needs
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I follow strict ethical guidelines and offer a respectful, trusting, and empathetic environment for every client.
Sessions take place at Ashville Lodge.
Appointments available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (with more to follow depending on demand).

Individual peer support
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or struggling to adjust to sight loss, you’re not alone. Through our Telephone Sight Loss Support Service, we can connect you with one of our trained volunteers who have lived experience of sight loss. They understand the emotional and practical challenges and can offer friendly, one-to-one peer support. Whether you just need someone to talk to or want advice on coping strategies, we’re here to listen and help.
